To the graduating class of 2012 I would like to extend my very best wishes for your future, and much happiness and success in your careers and future life choices.
Most of you are about to leave the safe and guarded environment of school and enter into the corporate and industrial world. You may find that it is not always easy to navigate the considerations and constraints of the commercial word. The pressure to conform to market considerations, to peer pressure and to seniority may at times be high and difficult to resist.
I wish to encourage you to have faith in yourselves and your ideas. While you should always be open to diverse opinions, you should not compromise what you believe in. You are the trendsetters and designers of tomorrow, and your ideas and ideals will shape the quality of life of the generations to come.
Enjoy the responsibility of creating in the “real world” and respect it, always keeping in mind the individual at the end of the design chain: the one who will be using your work and for whom you are making it.
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2012. I would like to extend my greatest wishes for your future success and happiness. I encourage you to develop your passion for art and design and always believe in yourself. You may a reluctance to embrace truly creative work in a corporate environment, if that is where your plans lead you. Do not be dissuaded by this, your individual ideas are what will propel Korea into the future. It has been my pleasure to teach you at this stage of your life. Remember that you have a lifetime of learning ahead of you- enjoy it!
